Castle of Dracula

The castle of Dracula is located 30 km southwest of Brasov, between the Bucegi Mountains and Piatra Craiului Mountains and it is considered to be one of the most beautiful castle in all Europe. The Castle was first built as a fortress in the 14th century from the direct order of King Ludovic I D’Anjou, but it was Queen Marie who transformed it into the fairytale castle we all enjoy today.
Also known as Bran Castle, it has gained popularity thanks to the legend of Dracula, a link between historical reality and fiction. The castle is thought to have been the residence of Count Dracula.
It all started with Bram Stocker’s novel – Dracula. The author combined the legend about vampires with the historical figure of a real ruler, Vlad Tepes (or Vlad Dracul) to create his novel. Consequently, the interaction between the main character of the novel and the legend of Vlad Tepes, a significant figure in Romanian history, has created an imaginary character called Count Dracula, a personification of an evil spirit living in his castle.
A trip to Bran is a one-life adventure for any traveler, so if you are spending your holidays in Romania, make sure you visit Bran and the many other places and natural beauties around. Here, you will never run out of amazing things to do and see.
